7 Hidden Ways to Tell if Someone Has a High Sex Drive

We often assume those who have a high sex drive also have a high body count. But sex drive is your desire to have sex. Just because you desire something doesn’t mean you will get it or act on it. 

It’s why I always chuckle at surveys asking people about their number of sexual partners. Despite most populations being relatively evenly split between men and women, the average Joe is always getting laid way more than the average Jane. 

This wonky math began in 1948 with the infamous Kinsey Report. Alfred Kinsey surveyed Americans and found men had three times as many sexual partners as women. Or so they claimed.

By the 1990s, that gap closed to a mere double the number of sexual partners. Was it because women suddenly decided to up their game, or maybe the guys just hit a dry spell? Or perhaps, just perhaps, both genders got a tad more truthful — men stopped exaggerating their sexual prowess, and women stopped downplaying theirs.

Case in point. One of my favorite surveys was from the condom maker, Durex. Marketers polled men and women and found New Zealand women had more sexual partners than men. Again, or so they claimed. 

However, before we wax poetic about some wild gender reversal scenario, let’s also remember that there are more women than men in Kiwi land. So either these women are leaving their island paradise to eat, pray, love, or something fishy is going on down under. 

But no matter how you crunch the numbers, one thing is for certain. Surveys are notoriously inaccurate for determining sociosexuality — a person’s willingness to engage in uncommitted sexual opportunities. Basically, sociosexuality defines a culture’s promiscuity. 

Fortunately, since our drive for sex perpetuates the species, scientists throw a lot of research dollars into studying libidos.
